Textiles and African Brilliance
Bring your family to the Palmer Museum for a day of art and fun for all!
Begin at noon with a performance by the Roots of Life Performing Arts Ensemble, then view the new exhibition African Brilliance: A Diplomat's Sixty Years of Collecting to explore the woven, embroidered, and beaded textiles with the rest of the amazing African art.
Enjoy family-friendly guided tours, learn about weaving techniques exhibited in the show, create your own raffia weavings inspired by the work of the Kuba people on view, and grab a friend to play a game of Mancala.
Visitors to Family Day events at the Palmer can enjoy free art activities designed for all ages.
